Hooks
« on: December 16, 2016, 07:44:39 PM »
I think it should be added back. Or have some way to move around much faster. In my opinion grappling hooks makes swapshop fun and goofy.  ;D ;D ;D

Matter of opinion. You have the people who agree and disagree.

I am not for/against it. But here is some pros and cons (I guess[somewhat opinionated])
Pros:
-Adds something new to the table, rather than a new server, or gamemode.. a little fun tid-bit
-Something people can choose to use, considering people were fine without them
-Can't really be abused, unless for exploits (which is why we have a nice thing known as admins and a lovely way to report players for exploit abuse)

 aaaannnddd... some cons

Cons:
-Negative reception anytime it is brought back
-Adds something new to the table (not always a good thing)
-Sets up a new set of rules/exploits for people that we may have not found yet

Now, this is the part where I put my opinion at (like it matters)
They are okay. No need to complain, no need to whine when they disappear. It's like losing money you found off the ground. You find it, you like it, you may lose it, but it was never yours or was your responsibility. If Death chooses to put'em back, so what. His choice, not yours. All in all, it's just a messy thing to bring in. It's like friendly mode. Big ol' mess, people kept complaining (for good reason since it was bloody broken) and it never really worked out.

My post was clear how I felt.

I vote against.

My post, if requested to know why; http://tf2swapshop.com/forum/index.php?topic=2178.15#lastPost

I agree with your pros and cons. And yes, it isnt my choice. I just wanted to see what people thought about having no grappling hooks. And yes people do abuse it (sometimes). I used grappling hooks as a way to run away, or set up a sentry nest faster. Fighting someone with grappling hooks made me fusterated, especially when I fought a demoman with 6 "heads" on his eyelander. In my opinion grappling hooks kinda prevented spawncamping. Removing hooks makes it harder to get out of spawn if you are being spawncamped. Yes there is !shop, but people aren't as fortunate as me to have 20,000 credits laying around.   :D ;) :) ;D

I'm simply going to state that I disagree with the addition of the grappling hooks on all tf2ss servers.

Further subjective explanation here:

In my own personal opinion, the skill cap is raised much higher with the addition of grappling hooks. It doesn't make the servers as enjoyable as they did before the addition of the jetpacks and hooks.

A little off topic *Apologies* but what would take to get the friendly mode back?

Not likely as it was update intensive. Every time steam would make the smallest change it would open up friendly to exploits.
