What about a Minecraft Server?
« on: July 20, 2016, 09:57:56 PM »
What would you guys think about a minecraft server?

There are plenty of options we could do to make a successful server, examples being

    Minigames
    Survival
    Creative
    Prison
    Player vs. Player maps
    Survival Games
Hub server, which is basically everything in one.
    etc etc

I can go in to more detail about servers if you guys vote yes, and if you vote yes, leave your suggestions about it in the thread.

I am voting yes to show that I am keeping an open mind about this idea. There is no specific gamemode I wish to have on the servers so I'll leave it to the rest of you to decide.

I played Minecraft for many years before I even heard of Steam.

Depending on the version and type of server, I wouldn't mind joining it at times.

Just remember that we don't normally host Minecraft servers. I wouldn't expect too much from the server(s).

I think this definitely could be a successful idea considering that much of our audience is <14 years old. Minecraft is pretty much seen as being popularized by younger children and I think the server would definitely appeal to those same people as well as many others if we were to incorporate these "perks" into it.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Is very good idea seeing as I like Minecraft myself, and our Minecraft Servers could even tell people of our Tf2 servers, allowing for more people in total playing our stuff.

This was brought up in the past, by me. Tried with no luck of getting it passed. Do I see it being successful, Not completely. But I will do as I did in the past and support the idea.

I think this is a great idea and making it a hub server would also be very fun

TF2 brings and pays the bills mostly with ads and item donations. Minecraft solely relies on player donations to stay afloat. No ad plugins, and all the items are given to you.  Long story short, at the time, it was believed it would take more money than SS would get back(in other words the return on investment). I have been told this wouldn't be the case provided the right the plugins are used. I do not personally believe this as it will be trial and error until the right combo if it is found, is created.

If this gets approved, I'd suggest a new administrative staff for the minecraft server.

Can you expand on that?

Players that aren't necessarily part of the current tf2 staff (although current staff members could apply as well).

That's as much as I can expend it.
