Title: Not so permanent, permaban
Post by: Tory Ravufuru on July 30, 2015, 08:34:32 AM
Ok I really had no idea what to do for a subject or where to put this but here's what happened. I had a report come in at 9am (central us time utc-6) about a hacker who was also threatening to ddos people. I went to the server and did a steam id permaban after confirming that he was hacking and hearing the threats. I was going to ip ban him on sourcebans but I was lazy and was postponing that chore. He came back on a second account so I banned that one and headed to sourcebans now realizing that I would have to ip ban right away. I did all this but before I left the server they informed me that he claimed that he was playing on a Public Library computer. I realize this is probably false but I thought I'd make a post about it.

I believe tha's a false claim. Playing TF2 on a public computer? Really? Libraries won't allow you to do that kind of stuff. He was most likely on his laptop at a library.

A little late but I have info related to ip bans. If the person is serious enough, he/she can change his ip by calling the isp and requesting a change, or disconnecting the modem for an extended period of time. My best advice is to just keep banning if he/she's serious.

I am aware of multiple ways to change your ip. The only reason I posted this was because of the possibility that they could have an extremely easy way to be playing under multiple ips. Thank you for your input however :).
