csgo donations
« on: February 21, 2016, 02:18:15 PM »
I have had quite a few people ask if I could add csgo items to the donation bot.
What do you guys think, is it worth the effort of getting the dev working on this?
My concern would be the high cost to get it setup and the low volumes of csgo donations.

People who Play TF2 Main: Play TF2, CS:GO, Valve Games Ect.

People who play CS:GO Main: Play CS:GO.

I think it would be beneficial to very few people, And any chance at higher tier expensive items or skins, would be very slim and not very often if hosted on just TF2.

I feel the price to implement outweighs potential profits

I agree. I feel like worrying about that now would do more harm than good. We all know how Steam likes to update and creates problems everywhere. CS:GO is something that SS touched but I don't think it got very involved with. It is similar yet still very different. I think eventually CS:GO trading could eventually be something perfect on SS, but it would take time, and in between now and then, I don't think enough people would use it to where it would be beneficial. Of course, I don't know how this all works like you do, so I could very well be wrong, but that is my 2 cents.

On the flip side, I don't think you should turn down  CS:GO donations. I think any one who wants to donate their other game items should come to the forums and post about it. That way the different economies can be discussed and regulated between many perspectives. Plus that would, knock on wood, bring more players to the forums.

Yeah, I know. Or at least, soon enough.

I don't have time to manually take trades for donation with the sheer amount of players passing through our servers.

Hmm now I am curious to see how many people actually have passed through our doors. Looking it up now.

Since the shop rewrite went live, there is 477,661 total steam id's registered in the shop!!
That's a few people who have passed through our doors!!

I mean hey if people want to donate csgo items for a tf2 based community i think its totally worth...the amount of people we could get if they are willing to donate csgo items could prbably go up....i think we should have it.

It could be good for us to allow more ways to take in donations, however, economy in CS:GO is different than in TF2. If it would be hard to code, then it probably wouldn't be worth it. Also, we are TF2SwapShop, Not "TF:GOSwapShop" (or any variation of the name).
