THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM - ATTRACTING NEW PLAYERS

I understand this is pretty no-duh. Nevertheless, I decided I should state the obvious so those who are somehow unaware of this issue know. There. Educated? Great.

One of the biggest issues with SwapShop is the seemingly decreasing (or rather flat-lining) number of players on the in-game servers. It's no easy task to attract new players to the SwapShop servers. We've been busting our heads together to get new players on the servers for quite some time. Instead of asking for suggestions I want us to discuss a few things.
  • Why is this happening?
  • Why do you think this is happening?
  • What hasn't worked?
  • What has worked?
  • What could be turning people away?
  • Are people turning away from SwapShop?
  • How do the forums impact SwapShop?
  • Why do the forums have an impact or lack of impact on SwapShop?
  • Does SwapShop require a massive reform or does it just need a few changes?
  • Should we pursue this issue or ignore it?
I encourage us to articulate on this topic and present facts, evidence, numbers, concerns, thoughts, and feelings on this matter. Please be as thorough and clear as possible. I know this issue is most likely being discussed on the invis boards. While it is being discussed somewhere, I have not seen a specific topic dedicated to this issue. With the closure of this topic I wish for us to either come up with a plan or state the current agenda- not just state ideas.

With an abundance of admins active on the forums I'm intrigued to know from the birds' eye view where SwapShop is heading, why it's moving in that direction, and what we have done to end up where we are now. Of course, with that said, members are allowed to discuss as well. In fact, I encourage them- if any- to chime in.

Maybe it is because we don't have enough people who are willing to reach out and bring friends to the server. Could you elaborate? I think you're on to something.
