Wortzenhein - Game Server Admin Application
« on: October 03, 2017, 08:35:33 PM »
1. Which position do you wish to apply for?
Game Server Admin

2. Have you ever previously applied for a position in SwapShop?
No

3. List any current staff members you know or have any personal relations with.
Penny Fitzgerald, Synicle, Zabiroc

4. Do you have a microphone that you are willing to use?
Yes

5. Age:
18

6. What Time Zone do you live in?
Eastern Standard Time

7. List and describe any previous supervisory, administrative or management experience, in or out of the game:
I've had almost none out of game and only administrative experience in a group. I was an admin in the group but rarely ran into issues on my end. Worst was banning someone for breaking multiple rules while with other members of our group along with me and some other admins being present.

8. What are your goals in this community - or, why do you want to hold this position?
If I get accepted, I will be out to help anyone from the servers, in-game or out of game. I will also help fellow admins and make sure the people in our group are happy. Along with making sure the rules are kept in line, I will strive to keep the strength of my power fair and balanced. In essence, I want our servers to be a place to relax instead of getting riled up.

9. How much time will you be able to spend:
A. On the servers?
This usually varies. But normally I get on daily. If I estimate an exact amount of hours averaged it could be up to 3-4.

B. On the forums?
I normally don't go onto the forums but because of me becoming more active I'll start looking more into them. Maybe dedicate about an hour to them? Not too sure yet.

10. How long have you been playing on our group of servers?
Estimated around a year.

11. Do you speak any languages other than English?
No

12. Link your SteamRep and other sources that show your reputation here:
https://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198070141659
https://backpack.tf/u/76561198070141659

13. If you have alternate accounts, list any alternate accounts that you own:

14. Describe a time when you lost control of your emotions and how you were able to cope with the situation (P.S: This can be about anything; it doesn't have to be from in-game.):
I've lost control of them many times. But I usually reach for support of many of my friends. Recent one was a mental breakdown of stress but I kept it away from my game life and only to reality. I'm not too great at explaining thing. Just ask me anything if needed.

15. What do you consider in your personality to be strengths? What do you consider in your personality to be weaknesses?
A strength would be that I'm understanding and I'm up-kept in attitude. My weakness is that I lack some social skills and have social anxiety, but this can be worked around online because it's not face to face, which is where they mostly come from.

16. Assess these attributes from 1 to 10 based on how you see yourself:
  • Logical: 8
  • Patient: 9
  • Reactive: 6
  • Creative: 4
  • Polite: 7
  • Reasonable: 8
  • Objective: 8
  • Perceptive: 5
  • Compassionate: 10
  • Troubleshooter: 5
  • Honest: 6

17. After you become an admin, how would you react to these situations below:
A: How would you deal with a person who was making racist comments?
I would first give them two warnings then proceed to mute and/or gag them depending on where they're actually making the comments. Mic or chat as in.

B: A group of players are offended by remarks that another player made, but you yourself do not find them to be offensive. How would you respond?
I would simply tell the person being offended, if the person making the remarks aren't breaking the rules, how to client side mute them.

C: How would you deal with players who micspam?
I would handle them with two warnings first then if they keep going I would give them a simple mute for 30 mins or an hour. Time would increase if they keep doing it consecutively. But if the micspam is good quality and people enjoy it I would start a vote. If it passes through, for I heard it has to be 75%, then I would let them continue but tell others how to client side mute them.

D: Another TF2SS admin is exploiting their powers in game; what will you do about it?
I would contact my higher ups to be able to handle it.

E: What would you do when answering a report that [username] is speed hacking on one of our servers?
I would ask them for physical evidence or even go to the server myself hidden to see if they actually were. If they are or not I'll go from there.

F: A regular user threatens to ban another player if they do not comply with rules that do not exist. What will you do about it?
First warn them and if they do not listen go for a kick. If they rejoin and refuse to listen still and if they have a tag in their name I would rename them to not have the tag. If they persist I will only temp ban them for a day. The ban proceeding to be longer each time they break it consecutively.

G: A group of enemy players dominate you, ignoring everyone else and changing teams if you join the team they are on, killing only you over and over again. What will you do about it?
I would understand they are not breaking any rules and I will simply say nothing about that. I may ask them kindly to stop and if they don't I may just go to another server.

H: How do you deal with a player who comments publicly that: you are an asshole, the server sucks ass, and continues to insult anyone who kills them with profanity & by screaming on the mic?
I would only tell them to calm down if they are not disturbing players but if they continue or are acting severe then I would warn them twice. If they proceed then I would give a mute or a gag. Such this goes under the category of micspam if they scream into the mic

I: A regular player on our server says that they will offer free godmode for anyone who trades a hat to them. What will you do about it?
This is considered a form of scamming, more exact as sharking, and can be handled as a scam report.

J: A player who bought the Headless Horsemann perk from the shop complains after another player slays him/her. What do you tell the slayed Headless Horsemann player?
Only tell them to simply calm down, as it's not against the rules

K: How do you define Admin abuse?
When the admin is using commands without reason or permissions in their powers.

After filling out this application, what are your feelings toward becoming a Server Admin on our servers?
I feel scared but I will push through with the best efforts I can! That I can say for certain

What happens when the whole server finds it offensive and the player is taking things "over the top"?

Also, why do you rate yourself so low when it comes to some of your attributes.

Doesn't that turn into harassment if I'm correct? Also I vote myself so low for I feel I can improve so much more, and I admit that... I know I'm strong in some areas. But others I feel weak. But I would do my best to fix that. If anything, I'd just ask for advice on situations more than anything. I know I don't know everything... but if I was told how to act upon it I would do just that.

Yes it does, but how would you handle it?

Well I know this would eventually result in a mute or gag depending on where it's being done. But I should give at least one warning right?

I think that's a question you'll have to answer yourself. Remember that you are the applicant, so the staff or anyone else cannot give you answers to questions like that.

Thank you for taking the time to apply for TF2SwapShop administration. We regret to inform you that our staff does not believe that your application satisfies our standards for server administration for the moment. Unfortunately, we must decline your application.

If you are still interested in a server administration position here, you may submit a new application and reapply after 3 months have passed (January 9th, 2018).

We encourage you to use that time to revise and improve upon your application.
