Shane | Having Fun 24/7 - Game Server Admin Application
« on: June 13, 2018, 03:42:14 PM »
1. Which position do you wish to apply for?
Game Server Admin

2. Have you ever previously applied for a position in SwapShop?
No

3. List any current staff members you know or have any personal relations with.
tsund4y_ / Reno

4. Do you have a microphone that you are willing to use?
Yes

5. Age:
15

6. What Time Zone do you live in?
EST | Eastern Standard Time Zone

7. List and describe any previous supervisory, administrative or management experience, in or out of the game:
Inside of Team Fortress 2 [OLD ACCOUNT]: I used to run and manage a small public and private server for me and my old friends that used source mod perms back in 2014-2015. [NO PROOF AVAILABLE TO BE SHOWN] | Outside of Team Fortress 2: I have helped moderators private servers for my friends on Minecraft: Java Edition, using plugins and addons like BUKKIT and SPIGGOT [PROOF CAN NOT BE SHOWN DUE TO IT NOT BEING AVAILIBLE]

8. What are your goals in this community - or, why do you want to hold this position?
My goal in this community is to help stabilize and give the newer players a more welcoming and happy playtime, as I see this server has more than enough potential to be rid of all the toxicity and hatred driven through it. I would like to hold this position so people see that I will be there to help them when they are in need of assistance getting around the server or the forums.

9. How much time will you be able to spend:
A. On the servers?
I will be able to spend about 5 - 8 hours on the servers daily, and on certain days I can spend almost up to 12 hours.

B. On the forums?
I can spend about 3 - 4 hours browsing the forums, depending on whats going on in the network's sub-servers, what I mean by that is if nothing is going wrong in the server, I can spend more time and focus on the forum pages.

10. How long have you been playing on our group of servers?
Around 4 and a half months

11. Do you speak any languages other than English?
I am learning tid-bits of Spanish, but I only speak English currently.

12. Link your SteamRep and other sources that show your reputation here:

customURL: https://steamcommunity.com/id/MythicalShane
steamrep: https://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198358779313

13. If you have alternate accounts, list any alternate accounts that you own:
My old account was compromised and I am unable to find it.

14. Describe a time when you lost control of your emotions and how you were able to cope with the situation (P.S: This can be about anything; it doesn't have to be from in-game.):
I one time got grounded for accidentally dropping a brick on my sisters foot, and I started crying a lot, but i was able to cope by breathing in and out slowly and calming down by thinking of positive things, turns out I was only grounded for a week.

15. What do you consider in your personality to be strengths? What do you consider in your personality to be weaknesses?
My strength would be my love and affection for players and my good sportsmanship that is needed in a community war game like Team Fortress 2. I am still discovering my weaknesses, as I don't exactly know what I'd call them.

16. Assess these attributes from 1 to 10 based on how you see yourself:
  • Logical: 6
  • Patient: 7
  • Reactive: 6
  • Creative: 8
  • Polite: 9
  • Reasonable: 7
  • Objective: 7
  • Perceptive: 8
  • Compassionate: 9
  • Troubleshooter: 5
  • Honest: 9

17. After you become an admin, how would you react to these situations below:
A: How would you deal with a person who was making racist comments?
Possibly a Warning, depending on the type of slur issued; Muting the player(s) for about an hour, if he continues after the hour is up, issue a 24hour mute; if that isn't sufficient enough, and the player is constantly being reported, permanently mute them.

B: A group of players are offended by remarks that another player made, but you yourself do not find them to be offensive. How would you respond?
I would ask the player making the offensive remarks to stop nicely, and also ask the players that are being offended to try to ignore or mute that player.

C: How would you deal with players who micspam?
I would ask them to stop, and if it continues; I'd issue a warning. If it then continues, I will mute for up to 1 hour depending on severity

D: Another TF2SS admin is exploiting their powers in game; what will you do about it?
I will immediately contact either the owner or the head administrators to help with the situation, by first explaining to them which server I am on, and what the admin is doing that is against the rules

E: What would you do when answering a report that [username] is speed hacking on one of our servers?
If the user has rolled or bought the high-speed perk in the server, than I would not issue a proper ban, but if there were no logs of that user purchasing or rolling that perk, I would instantly permanently ban them, while recording it to have provided proof.

F: A regular user threatens to ban another player if they do not comply with rules that do not exist. What will you do about it?
I would warn the user that Admin Impersonation is not tolerated, and if it continues to the same user he is threatening or others; I'd ban the user permanently with provided proof

G: A group of enemy players dominate you, ignoring everyone else and changing teams if you join the team they are on, killing only you over and over again. What will you do about it?
Since spawncamping is allowed, I'd have to allow it since it is not technically in violation in the rules | Now if I player reports a group of people or a person for spawn camping, i'd mostly like go into that server and explain to them that it is allowed and is not in violation of the rules.

H: How do you deal with a player who comments publicly that: you are an asshole, the server sucks ass, and continues to insult anyone who kills them with profanity & by screaming on the mic?
I feel as if they actually have a problem with the server, the best way to hear about their problem is to ask about it, so what i'd do is either add them and message them or maybe trade with them, and ask them what problem they have with the Swap Shop or another user, and if it's a more serious problem pertaining to the Swap Shop, I would bring it up with head administrators or the owner of the server.

I: A regular player on our server says that they will offer free godmode for anyone who trades a hat to them. What will you do about it?
I would ask them to not ask other players or offer other players that perk, as I see it can be a major downside for others | I also believe that at the swap shop, everyone should have a fair trade , and to not scam others for something they could only use until they disconnected.

J: A player who bought the Headless Horsemann perk from the shop complains after another player slays him/her. What do you tell the slayed Headless Horsemann player?
I would tell the player that it was their credits they wasted on that perk.

K: How do you define Admin abuse?
I define admin abuse as this:Exploiting for personal advantage, Threatening to ban players because the admin doesn't like them, Banning people because they want to, with no actual given reason, Using permissions to give every player a disadvantage for personal advantages

After filling out this application, what are your feelings toward becoming a Server Admin on our servers?
After filling out this application, my feelings about becoming a Server Admin are still positive and high-up! | I feel as if that this server has done really well with their current staff team, and for me becoming an admin would make me be useful to the SwapShop and to all of the staff that have either volunteered or become full-time administrators here.

13. If you have alternate accounts, list any alternate accounts that you own:
My old account was compromised and I am unable to find it.

What exactly happen that lead to the account being compromised and in what way was it compromised?

What do you feel you should work at most to improve yourself then?

16. Assess these attributes from 1 to 10 based on how you see yourself:
  • Logical: 6

  • Polite: 9

  • Objective: 7
  • Perceptive: 8
  • Compassionate: 9
  • Troubleshooter: 5
  • Honest: 9

Of the traits listed:
- Which do you feel are most important to being an administrator?
- Which would you need to work on more than others and why?

Seperate Questions

In your own words:
- What is scamming to you?
- What is sharking to you?

Answer to 13: I was scammed unknowingly and my information was misput on my profile, leading to my account being hijacked and all the information changed

Answer to 15: I feel as if I should improve each and everything I can about myself to be a better person overall, and to be a good addition to the SwapShop Team.

Answer to 16: Patience, Reactivity, Troubleshooting, Objective and Perceptive are the ones I feel are most important to being an administrator. | I would need to work on Troubleshooting and Patience because for one, when it comes to troubleshooting, I sometimes find myself at a plan that is at fault and wouldn't work. As for patience, I would need to be more patient so I can see and hear what is going on, and make the right moves when it is time.

Scamming to me is when someone would jag you out of something you wanted for something they want, they receiving what they want, while you get nothing in return.

Sharking to me is when someone scams, but does it in a way that is secretive and makes it look like it isn't scamming, but it technically is.

Thank you for taking the time to apply for TF2SwapShop administration. We regret to inform you that our staff does not believe that your application satisfies our standards for server administration for the moment. Unfortunately, we must decline your application.

If you are still interested in a server administration position here, you may submit a new application and reapply after 3 months have passed (September 20th, 2018).

We encourage you to use that time to revise and improve upon your application.
