SNOWY - Game Server Admin Application
« on: May 13, 2017, 05:48:57 PM »
1. Which position do you wish to apply for?
Game Server Admin

2. Have you ever previously applied for a position in SwapShop?
No

3. List any current staff members you know or have any personal relations with.
Penny Fitzgerald - http://steamcommunity.com/profiles/76561198084854664/

4. Do you have a microphone that you are willing to use?
Yes

5. Age:
16

6. What Time Zone do you live in?
US Eastern Standard Time

7. List and describe any previous supervisory, administrative or management experience, in or out of the game:
Admin in private Discord servers
Moderator for now-defunct TF2 Raffle/Trading Group

8. What are your goals in this community - or, why do you want to hold this position?
I notice that admins usually are not on unless called in or randomly visiting, which means sometimes one can get away with breaking the rules. I, being a bit of a frequent player on this group of servers, specifically in the US East region, would change that by constantly being there to help enforce the rules and making sure that people enjoy their experience on the servers.

9. How much time will you be able to spend:
A. On the servers?
Possibly a couple of hours a day, give or take. School might get in the way sometimes.

B. On the forums?
Probably not nearly as much, as I do not use these forums. But I might try to change

10. How long have you been playing on our group of servers?
A few months to maybe a year or so now.

11. Do you speak any languages other than English?
No, but trying to learn German.

12. Link your SteamRep and other sources that show your reputation here:
http://backpack.tf/profiles/76561198088005903
http://steamrep.com/profiles/76561198088005903

13. If you have alternate accounts, list any alternate accounts that you own:
n/a

14. Describe a time when you lost control of your emotions and how you were able to cope with the situation (P.S: This can be about anything; it doesn't have to be from in-game.):
I got really sad over a scam, but was able to cope with it by taking a short break from tf2 and then earning up the money to make up for what I lost. No yelling, no shouting, just a simple flag for scamming and a small break.

15. What do you consider in your personality to be strengths? What do you consider in your personality to be weaknesses?
I'm a very nice, gentle, caring person that tries to make sure everyone is happy. However, I can take a situation too seriously if I feel anxious or stressed. I also have large social anxiety.

16. Assess these attributes from 1 to 10 based on how you see yourself:
  • Logical: 8
  • Patient: 10
  • Reactive: 5
  • Creative: 9
  • Polite: 10
  • Reasonable: 9
  • Objective: 5
  • Perceptive: 7
  • Compassionate: 8
  • Troubleshooter: 5
  • Honest: 10

17. After you become an admin, how would you react to these situations below:
A: How would you deal with a person who was making racist comments?
I would ask them to stop, giving them three warnings. The third would be a temp. gag or mute, depending on where they were being said. If they continued afterwards, either in the other form of chat or waiting out the temp mute/gag, I would either kick them or give them a temp ban for 30 minutes to an hour; it all would depend on how many groups/people they were trying to offend.

B: A group of players are offended by remarks that another player made, but you yourself do not find them to be offensive. How would you respond?
I would polietly ask the person to stop and take them into consideration. If they refused to comply, a 5-10 minute temp mute/gag would be created.

C: How would you deal with players who micspam?
Ask them in chat to stop, and if they do not comply, a 1 hour temp. gag would be placed. Possibly longer if it was earrape or very low-quality.

D: Another TF2SS admin is exploiting their powers in game; what will you do about it?
I will ask them to stop, and report it if they continue.

E: What would you do when answering a report that [username] is speed hacking on one of our servers?
Speed hacking, being impossible in TF2 with current hacking methods ( at least now ), I would simply reply by telling them they do not have proper knowledge of hacking, and would ask them to next time discuss it with an experienced friend of theirs before making a report.

F: A regular user threatens to ban another player if they do not comply with rules that do not exist. What will you do about it?
I will tell them that the rules they listed do not exist, and will tell them how to check the rules. If they continue, I will kick them or temp-ban them for impersonating a person of power.

G: A group of enemy players dominate you, ignoring everyone else and changing teams if you join the team they are on, killing only you over and over again. What will you do about it?
If it REALLY bothers me, I would noclip or teleport to an area that they cannot reach. Otherwise, I will simply laugh and joke about it. "Oh, here I come guys, watch out!~"

H: How do you deal with a player who comments publicly that: you are an asshole, the server sucks ass, and continues to insult anyone who kills them with profanity & by screaming on the mic?
A kick. They seem to not be negotiable, so the first punishment would be a kick. Any more will result in a temporary ban.

I: A regular player on our server says that they will offer free godmode for anyone who trades a hat to them. What will you do about it?
I will say over voice chat that it is a scam and that nobody should trade with them. If they continue to insist, I will temp. ban them for scamming.

J: A player who bought the Headless Horsemann perk from the shop complains after another player slays him/her. What do you tell the slayed Headless Horsemann player?
I would tell them that anything goes with that investment, and if you're killed, you can buy it again when you save the credits up.

K: How do you define Admin abuse?
Heavily abusing powers in a way that nobody on the server likes. Spamming bosses, slaying everyone, etc.

After filling out this application, what are your feelings toward becoming a Server Admin on our servers?
I would love to become an admin, and would ensure to do my best to keep the server running smoothly.

Mind telling us what this raffle/trading group was known as? I'd like to check them out and see what kind of reputation they had.

Which servers would you say we are not on enough? I usually see large amounts of admins within a server here or there naturally playing until a report comes. Some servers are empty all of the time. I'm simply asking where are you seeing servers where a hacker comes on and we miss them so we can monitor that server better, because as far as I know we are on plenty. Along with this I know that plenty of people know how to properly use the report bot and we do respond to everything. Plenty of admins are East Coast as well, myself included.
Darth Plagueis was a Dark Lord of the Sith, so powerful and so wise he could use the Force to influence the midichlorians to create life… He had such a knowledge of the dark side, he could even keep the ones he cared about from dying.

Because you did not reply to the questions asked within 3 days, your application has been suspended.

You have 7 days to reply before your application is denied for inactivity.

I usually don't see many online during my playtime in #37, I believe. I might get the number wrong, but on the servers I usually play on, admins are only seen when I'm playing every now and again. That might just be because I'm unlucky.

Speed hacking is very much possible, and saying that it is what would you do in this situation?
If that was the case, I would get on the case immediately. If the player was still on at any time, if the player recorded a demo, or any form of evidence was seen against him, he would recieve a temp. ban for speedhacking. If the same user was seen again using the hack at any time, a permanent ban may be involved.

Would you do this action using the shop command or of your own power?
If I had the credits, which I probably would, I would simply do that. I don't like the idea of using my powers for any cause other than when required.

If you don't mind me asking. On #16, why do you rate yourself so low on the following aspects:

Reactive
Objective
Troubleshooter
It might take me a while to respond to things, and I generally have problems with using force when needbe, as I don't want to come off as rude to people. And I probably got the idea for the number system wrong. Probably.

Do you by chance participate in gambling?

Ah, that thing? I USED to partake in gambling, but only in minor cases. I forgot to remove that group when I decided that it wasn't worth it, as I rarely remove myself from groups. I'll be doing that now.

It is rather small since it never gained much attention, but it can be found here;

Hopefully this answered everything. I'm not used to this forum's layout, as I don't use messaging forums much.

I'll keep that in mind. Thanks! I'm just...not used to giving out harsh punishments. But it won't take me long to get used to it.

I don't usually visit text forums like this much. And even then, I had some trouble with the layout, so it took me a while to get to it. Though I can get used to it overtime, it'd just take me a while.
